INKtober Day 29

This was actually from last night and the one I wrote up as the 28th was really from the 27th. Whoops!
I loved Powergirl: Bomb Squad, and since then have become quite a fan of a well-done, sarcastic Powergirl. I was trying to sort of imitate Katie Cook, which you can at least see in the eyes.
She wasn't really so stout as all this.
Some practice cars for an upcoming story. I think I am going to use the latter.
And a fella for the same story. I have no idea why I enjoy drawing him in his underwear so much.

INKtober Day 28

I think I have been thinking about Wonder Woman too too much lately.

INKtober Day 26

Abe didn't get it when I showed him. He didn't think it was funny. He claims he was just tired.

INKtober Days 24 and 25

I did this Tuesday morning before work for Abe to take to school for some paste-up printing thing. And of course spilled all my ink on it. Nice that Abe was there for a change to help me clean it up this time. These are fast so I did have time to get another one done. I obviously didn't finish the inner lines on this noe.
This was my drawing from 2 nights ago. Day 24, but I was too tired to post last night. I was starting to feel the sick that I have now.
Abe as a sock demon by ~lunavalse on deviantART
This is the practice commission I did for Abe with him playing video games with The Jerks and himself as a sock demon, too. (He's the fella in the middle with four legs.) It was my ink for last night, day 25.

INKtober Day 23

Just the one from last night. I am still exhausted from Bellingham ComiCon. Eesh.

INKtober Days 21 ans 22

I was way too tired after getting home from Bellingham ComiCon last night so I am posting the last two days of inks now. We got up at 5:30 yesterday so we could get to Bellingham in time for the convention and set up and stuff and didn't leave again until 10:00 because my mom and Jim are so entertaining.

Friday Evening:
Our friend Rita giving Abe crazy eyes during class.
Do I even need to explain this? I will mention that I was trying to practice a more cartoony style.
Some ideas for a character for a new mini comic I will be making in the next month.

At Bellingham ComiCon on Saturday:
Fella character for the same mini comic as the lady. I have not yet decided if he will actually make an appearance in his tighty whities, but this made me laugh so many times, he just might have to. The one I marked as not supposed to be Will Wheaton looked more like him in the pencil version.
A character for a mini comic we may make after realizing how many people at Jet City and B'ham ComiCon skipped our booth to look at lovely ladies...
This may turn into a Gertrude series comic. Based on Abe's experience at Bellingham ComiCon. So sad.

INKtober Day 20

First up, a practice commission for my mom; she asked for a self portrait. Now that it is done, I wish I had added more to it,like Ernie and a table or two and a lap.

Here was my brush pen ink for the night, a little Strong Female Character fan art. Kate Beaton and friends really are just the best. :)
And a Sartorialist I tried to draw a little more cartoony.

INKtober Day 19

Pictures of my dreams for Abe's school project interview of me. Drew 2 of these at drink 'n draw.

INKtober Day 16 and 17

My normal nibs were toast so I had to prepare some new ones and I was so busy last night with an interview for Abe's class project that I didn't have time for any other ink. I still didn't have time to finish The Jerks comic for today until this morning before work.
And then the night before that I totally forgot to post this from a pic on Mod Cloth (pg 5)

INKtober Day 14

Hellboy. Love the movie so I tried to watch it last night on Netflix but Abe "accidentally" cut the internet and I was too tired to wait for him to figure it out so I just stopped and went to bed. But I got this done first.

INKtober Day 13

Another from The Sartorialist. The lady in the photo is much more beautiful, but this is just practice anyways. Part of the beauty is those colors in the photo.

INKtober Day 12

Because she's awesome. She was supposed to look more annoyed than worried.

INKtober Day 11

Not great but a billion times better than the Leonard I did after Sheldon. I didn't even bother scanning the Leonard because it looks so bad. Ah well. Practice, practice.

INKtober Day 10

 Boy are Tapir's cute.
Until you ruin them with too much ink.

After these I read up on them on Wikipedia and they are really interesting.

INKtober Day 9

From Crusty Punk. Weird little blog, but it is interesting to draw people so visually different from those one The Sartorialist.

INKtober Day 6

Yay! More Gertrude. Boy these are fun to do. So much inking. I think I have to use some wallpaper sometime in there though.
Another one from The Sartorialist. These are really fun to do with the water brush filled with ink.

INKtober Day 5

Sue Heck. Because she is my favorite character on The Middle. Then Brick. Sorry Sue actress. You are way cuter than this pic.
From The Sartorialist. Always fun.

INKtober Day 4

Harry Potter, looking like a tool. I apologized to him already.
Some MidSomer Murders fan art of Chief Inspector Barnaby. I don't think Detective is part of his title, but I don't want to look in case there are spoilers. I am loving that show.
Wonder Woman with her lasso. Not sure why I give her such wild hair.

INKtober Day 3

The second of 2 Wonder Woman drawings I did last night. I have a short story I want to do, so I should really practice her. I have to keep looking up references because even though I can always recognize her, I can't say the pieces of her costume. Hope I got them all.
I love this one, except what happened to her face?! I figure a flying cat would just limpy hang from it's own heard. I learned how to do clouds from looking at Skottie Young's amazing work.
Here are some doodles and ink scratches. It says "Rock out with your Doc out." A quote from a co-worker. Makes me laugh every time. And that is a pencil sticking out of the crotch.

INKtober Day 2

Day 2! This was a fun one, again with the brush pen thing, but in my sketch book. Which works well because even a lot of ink won't get through the paper. I just adore Kate Beaton's style, so I wanted to give it a shot. It works really well with this fat brush pen because I can't get bogged down in the details. I did pencil this out first but I can't work without guidelines and it looks better than i thought it would.

INKtober day 1

First INKtober drawing. This is another character from the story I am hopefully working on soon. I got a water brush and some paper from Uwajimaya in downtown Seattle this weekend with Abe. I filled the brush with ink instead of water.
These are my tests on the rough side of the new paper. That on the right is how bad my people look without sketching them before hand. Eesh. Couple of corgis. Perhaps I will need to do a comic in this style of corgi.
Then the practice on the smooth side. I don't think it makes much of a difference and I can't tell what the paper is or what is the intended side since it is all Japanese.
