Guts

The spectacular Emily Partridge drew a picture of her guts and the wonderful Ian Andersen followed suite. So I did too. Because I want to be as awesome as they are.

Sweet Tooth

I can't get Jeff Lemire's art out of my head since I went on vacation. Was that only two weekends ago?! Anyways, I got some of it out in this drawing of his character Sweet Tooth.

And I have been doodling at work a lot during my long meetings and these little watermelons kept popping up. So I redid some in color. I will do more. They are fun.

Animal Couples

Bad news first. The neighbor's dogs attacked Abe, Ernie, and Nisa. Abe and Nisa are fine, but Ernie protected them and got the snot kicked out of him. He's back from the vet and all sleepy on painkillers.

Allison's CD release party

I went to my cousin Allison Preisinger's CD release party last night and drew while she sang. You can find her album here. I got to do the cover art. Fortunately, everyone seems to like it. :) Here are some drawings from her concert. There's a fun little surprise at the end of this post. 

The stool wasn't really about to fall over. I was just drawing at an angle so had a hard time with perspective.

I decided to try some other styles. Pretty pleased with these.

I also had to Adventure Time her. I think it turned out pretty well. Such a fun style to draw.

She totally didn't smash her guitar. Don't worry. And she did a good cover of the Goteye song that is all over the radio.

Last but not least, I did a little animated gif! So much fun.

Jeff Lemire

I read a bunch of Jeff Lemire on the weekend (over art vacation) and got inspired by his style. Namely, Sweet Tooth 3 and some of Essex County. So this is what happened.

 I might finally have a style that works for the Great Beard story, which is unfortunately penciled on paper that bleeds when I use a nib but is fine with a brush.

This was my first drawing in this style. I tried to draw Jim but I couldn't see his face so it looks like Jim if he were a farmer or a mass murderer (that's what Abe said).

 I have been enjoying Adventure Time Comics, but have never seen the cartoon until today and then only snippets.

Art vacation

I am currently on an art vacation at my mom's. Well, I am currently in her car waiting for her to deliver some work for her graphic design business. But before that I went to cosmic Comics in Bellingham and they now sell our comics. And yesterday we went to The Comics Place in bellingham and they also sell our comics now. Good times for the peopl of bellingham.
The tapir is the first finished art of mine on this vacation. Already have another one done of emus. And I hae started other paintings of a redd tree kangaroo, an axlotl, and river otter. And I penciled a comic about a fight between two red footed tortoises.
Off to dakota art for art supplies since I just got paid. :D

Feeling/Emotion drawings
